NFL Draft - Clint Sintim Scouting Report
by Clint
Clearwater
NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Clint Sintim, OLB,
Virginia
Ht:
6’3 Wt: 253 40: 4.80
Strengths: He
has started in the last 37 games for the Cavaliers. Great
size. Uses his hands well to throw away blockers. Does an
exceptional job at making the initial hit, locating the football and
getting to it. Can stand up blockers to see where the running
back or quarterback is. Does a great job of breaking down to see
how the play is developing. Good cover skills for an OLB with
great awareness. Good quickness. He can deliver big hits
and is an excellent pass rusher. Can recognize plays. He
has great recovery. Played in a 3-4 system in college, unlike
most prospects
Weaknesses:
Over-pursues sometimes and is juked out occasionally. Does not
have elite speed. Does not know how to anticipate big hits which
results in him being knocked back or out of the way. Is not known
to be a dirty player, however, during a contest between Virginia Tech
in
2007 Sintim hit their quarterback after the play and was ejected from
the contest. He later
apologized.
Summary:
Sintim is a tremendous pass rusher with the ability to drop back into
coverage. He recognizes plays well and is a decent tackler.
I really love his ability to stand up blockers and locate the
football. That is a great asset to a player. The only
downside I see in him is his inability to know when a big hit is coming
and his trouble with over-pursuing. His potential is amazing and
his experience makes him a colossal prospect.
Draft Projection:
Late 1st - early 2nd round
