Expire
Jerseys
- In the past, purchasing NFL jerseys was a big hobby of
mine. Not anymore! Every jersey I bought has basically
"expired," the players have all changed teams. Here is some
examples of my jersey collection (warning its pathetic): Kerry
Collins-Panthers, Curtis Enis-Bears, David Boston-Cardinals, Terry
Glenn-Patriots, Randy Moss-Vikings, and the infamous Ki Jana
Carter-Bengals.
- I did manage to make some smart choices with my Dan Marino
and Peyton Manning jersey.
- True story- my brother and I decided to show our Ohio State
pride so he bought a Andy Katzemoyer jersey and I bought a Terry Glenn
jersey- both of the Patriots- those jerseys "expired" quickly.
- If you go out and buy a jersey I recommend these five-not
expected to "expire" anytime soon.
- Peyton Manning-Colts, Tom Brady- Patriots,. Michael Vick-
Falcons, Donovan McNabb- Eagles, ...starting to see a pattern- all
franchise QBs
Some non QBs- Ray Lewis- Ravens, Chad Johnson-Bengals, Torry
Holt-Rams
- What do I recommend- personalize your favorite
team's jersey, I envy people with generic last names who do not have to
pay the extra money for personalize uniforms. For example, one of
my great friends' last name is Johnson, and yes he is a Bengals
fan. How lucky is that! I bet there are many happy 49ers'
fans that the team got Alex Smith.
- I bet there were many Titans fans who wanted Antrel Rolle
instead of Pac Man Jones, those Samari jerseys would not have "expired"
- Another warning when buying uniforms is knowing when your
team
last got new uniforms. For example, when Carson Palmer was
drafted there were many fans who bought his jersey. But, after
his first season as a Bengal, the Bengals had a makeover, and those
Palmer jerseys were out of date.
- When buying a jersey, it is very similar to buying
stock. Sometimes you will hit the jackpot (buy a Manning Jersey)
and many other times you will totally bust out (buy a Enis jersey), but
if you do happened to bust out, don' throw your jerseys out. In
about thirty years all those jerseys will be "retro." A Randy
Moss Viking jersey will go for over two hundred dollars. And that
Curtis Enis that is a piece of cr#p right now could be one of the
hottest items.
- So what have you learned- probably absolutely
nothing, but if you are thinking about buying a Terrell Owens'
jersey- don't unless you are a big risk taker, which I am no longer.
- Well I am out, until next time.........
