by Clint
Clearwater
NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Eric Wood, C,
Louisville
Ht:
6’4 Wt: 310 40: 5.17
Strengths:
Tough, hard worker, and a great run blocker. Uses hands extremely
well and loves to punish defenders into the ground. Decent feet
quickness for run blocking and a good stance which leads to a great
base. 49 consecutive starts. Big and strong, he bench 225
lbs 30 times at the combine. Loves to throw defenders to the
ground.
Weaknesses:
Often is beat when asked to do slide protection. Not a good pass
blocker. Does not have quick enough feet to keep up with faster
defensive ends or tackles. Strictly an interior lineman.
Summary: As
an interior lineman, Eric Wood is a monster. He is tough, mean
and strong. He will be a great guard or center in the NFL.
He uses his hands to drive defenders in the ground. He needs to
learn to pass block better to be a better overall prospect. He is
a great competitor. Can't teach experience, which Wood has.
Draft Projection:
Late 2nd - early 3rd round
