NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Hakeem
Nicks, WR,
North Carolina
Ht:
6'1 Wt: 212 40: 4.51
Strengths:
Good size for a receiver. Has great hands. Catches
the football with great concentration (which leads to spectacular
catches at times). Good awareness. Decently strong and
tough for a WR. Uses stiff arm very well and can break
tackles. Makes big plays in the open. Does a great job of
juking out defenders and potential tacklers. Good route runner,
and has a knack of getting open often. Can jump well. Good
downfield blocker. Great experience and good production during
his time as a Tar Heel.
Weaknesses:
He does not have elite speed. He won’t be a deep threat. He
occasionally holds the football completely wrong while running.
This is scary however he does not have a bad fumble history. He
could spend more time in the weight room.
Summary:
Hakeem Nicks is one of the best overall wide receivers in this year’s
draft. He is big and has exceptional hands. He is a good
route runner and can block surprising well for a WR. He does not
have elite speed, however he makes up for this with his ability to get
open, break tackles, and make big plays. Nicks’ athletic playing
style and game-breaking ability will make him a solid first day
pick.
Draft Projection:
Late 1st-Early 2nd Round
