NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Kraig Urbik, OG,
Wisconsin
Ht:
6’5 Wt: 328 40: 5.37
Strengths:
Great size and frame. Very physical. Does a great job of
blocking inside. Has the ability and the quickness to pull and
get out in front of RBs. Has a great motor. Does not give
up. Great run blocker and a decent pass blocker. Plays hard
and has really good awareness. Does a good job of keeping his
feet moving. This shows good technique. Very competitive
and has a great work ethic. No off-the-field problems. Has
a ton of experience under his
belt.
Weaknesses:
He does not have the overall speed to reach the second level. I
sometimes see him simply turn his hips to shield the defender from the
running back. This shows a bit of laziness. This will work
in college but it will not in the NFL. He missed 2 games after
suffering a left knee medial collateral ligament sprain vs. Penn
St. He needs to improve on his pass blocking and lateral movement
to be a better prospect.
Summary:
Kraig Urbik is a big offensive lineman who plays with a bit of a nasty
side. He does a tremendous job run blocking as well as
pulling. He is very physical and has great work ethic.
Before he suffered his injury, durability was not a concern for
Urbik. Teams will see that he does have durability concerns now
and that he will take time to improve in certain areas; and that will
cause him to fall likely into the 3rd round of this year’s
draft.
Draft Projection:
3rd round
