by Clint

NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Larry English,
DE/OLB, Northern Illinois
Ht:
6’2” Wt: 255 40: 4.82
Strengths:
Elite pass-rusher. Strong, and a good leader. Quick off the
ball, and can get around offensive tackles. He has a good bull
rush, and has a great spin move. He is a playmaker and an
absolute monster. He can tackle well, and can deliver violent
hits. English has a great motor and does not take plays
off. He is relentless at getting to the quarterback.
Weaknesses:
Not elite speed or elite size. He will need to work on his
coverage skills to be a better overall prospect. He needs to
learn to control his aggressiveness. He needs to learn to get to
the quarterback under control. He does not always do this;
however, on occasion he will lose control and miss the sack or
tackle. A tweener, does not a natural position.
Summary:
Larry English, an outstanding prospect out of Northern Illinois has put
up unbelievable numbers during his career as a Huskie. He is an
elite pass-rusher that can punish opposing QBs in a violent
fashion. English can tackle well, has a great motor and never
gives up and plays. He is a leader and a playmaker.
Although he does not have great overall speed, he makes up for it with
determination and desire. He has room for improvement, but NFL
teams are always looking more pass-rushers; and that’s English’s
specialty. Is sort of a tweener, could be either a DE or OLB
depending on the defense.
Draft Projection:
Late 1st- early 2nd round.
