NFL Draft - Louis Delmas Scouting Report
by Clint
Clearwater
NFL Draft
Analyst
Prospect: Louis Delmas, FS, Western
Michigan
Ht: 6'0 Wt: 202 40: 4.52
Strengths:
Excellent toughness and can make huge hits. Great athletic
ability. Very physical play-style. Extremely effective
against the run. Aggressive. He is good in zone
coverage. Has the ability to intercept the football. Can
recognize plays easily. He excels into his tackles. He is always
around the football. He has four years of experience. Great
leader.
Weaknesses:
Very Raw, he will need time to develop. Can be overaggressive (in
coverage as well as run support). Does not have elite
speed. He will need to put on muscle (only benched 225 lbs. 12
times). He will need to put on bulk or else his physical playing
style will get him injured. He did not play against elite
competition.
Summary:
Louis Delmas is a great character guy. He was the leader of
Western Michigan’s defense and has a great work ethic. He has
qualities that could turn him into a pro-bowler in the NFL.
However, he will take time to develop into his potential. He
needs to improve some major areas (muscle, bulk), but his upside is
tremendous. He has great experience and is a stellar
athlete. He is a solid 2nd round pick.
Draft Projection:
2nd round.
