Strengths: Has excellent size and has room to add weight. Has long arms. Very tough. Tremendous athleticism and technique. Underrated in the running game. Does a great job of mirroring defenders. Shows natural knee bending. Has a great motor, shows ability to get to the second level. Has good footwork (probably because he was a former TE). Elite experience; 4 year starter. Has very good football I.Q. and intelligence. Good leader on and off the field.
Weaknesses: Could add more weight. I see him struggling against larger and stronger defensive linemen in the NFL. To improve he will need to get stronger.
Summary: Castonzo is in competition to be the first tackle taken in the draft this April. At this point, I would narrow it down to either him or Tyron Smith of USC. However, with Castonzo there is a lot to like. He is extremely athletic, good in run and pass protection, and has good character. He is a hard working guy who has very quick feet for a person as big as he is. He will probably be the first or second tackle taken off the board this April.
Draft Projection: Top 15
