NFL Draft - Donald Brown Scouting Report
NFL Draft Analyst
Prospect: Donald Brown, RB,
Connecticut
Ht: 5'10 Wt: 210 40: 4.46
Strengths:
Has a powerful quick burst. Does a tremendous job of staying low
and keeps his legs moving, which shows great technique. He has
really good instincts and is very patience on waiting for the lanes to
open up. Makes great cuts. He can be deceptively quick in
the secondary. Can break tackles. Rarely fumbles (5 fumbles
on 698 carries). He is not an extremely elusive back, however has
amazing balance and great quickness which makes him hard to
tackle. Although he wasn’t used very much as a receiver, he shows
ability to catch the football. Has elite field vision, especially
on sweeps. Can return kicks. Extremely productive.
Has a stellar off the field record. Is a hard worker.
Weaknesses:
Doe not have elite overall speed. He needs to add more bulk to
help make him more durable and equipped to handle a full time role in
the NFL. Could improve his strength. Needs to improve his
blocking. Not the greatest short yardage runner. Played
behind a great offensive
line.
Summary:
Donald Brown was the nation’s leading rusher with 2,083 rushing yards
and 18 TDs. He even ended the season with an impressive 261 yards
rushing against Buffalo in the International Bowl. He possesses
great instincts, patience, and shows great techniques in multiple
areas. He is very dangerous in the open and can make big
plays. He needs to become bigger and stronger to handle a full
time role in the NFL. Despite his size and speed, NFL teams will
love his instincts, good techniques and great off the field
characteristics.
Draft Projection:
Late 1st-Early 2nd Round
